Faith in the In-Between

We often want God to show us the whole plan. We want clarity, timelines, and reassurance that everything will work out. I wanted that too, especially when I had to let go of a job that once felt secure. I knew I was being called into something new, but I could not see how it would unfold. What I could see was uncertainty. What I could feel was fear mixed with faith.

That is where calling gets real. Not when you feel brave, but when you take the next step while your hands still shake.

God rarely gives the full map. He gives direction, then asks for trust. The hardest part is the middle, the place where you know what you left, but you cannot yet see what you are building. In that space, I have learned to check my motives. What I call “being practical” can be fear, and what I call “a wise decision” can be doubt. That inner tug-of-war is exhausting, and it explains why my days can feel so different. Some days feel hopeless. Other days feel full of quiet hope. Both can exist at the same time.

When doubt shows up, I go back to what I know is true. God does not call people because they are polished. He calls people because He is faithful. “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). That means weakness does not disqualify me. It becomes the place where God carries me.

Scripture also reminds us not to live in tomorrow’s anxiety. “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34). That verse is not telling us to ignore the future. It is calling us back to the present, back to obedience that fits inside one day.

If you are in the middle, here is what I want you to hear. You do not need to see the whole plan to be walking with God. You only need to take the step He is asking for now. The calling does not disappear because the path feels unclear. The calling holds, even when your emotions do not.

God is steady. Even when you are still becoming.

Reflection & Journaling

- What is one step of obedience I know God is asking me to take right now?

- Where am I overthinking because I want control?

- What would change if I trusted God with the outcome and focused on today’s faithfulness?

Quiet Prayer

God, I trust you with what I cannot see yet. When my confidence drops, steady me with Your truth. Help me take the next step with courage, even if I feel weak. Your grace is enough for me today. Amen.
