Unarmored: The Beauty of Stepping Into the Clearing

For years, my strength was measured by how much weight I could carry. Today, it is measured by what I am finally brave enough to set down.

When you spend decades being the glue that holds a family together, you learn how to wear armor. You get used to the heavy, rigid weight of putting everyone else’s needs before your own. You become an expert at holding your breath, keeping the peace, and marching forward.

But what happens when that season is over? What happens when you finally graduate from a life of just "surviving"?

You get to take the armor off.

Stepping into this new chapter of my life hasn't just been about building physical strength; it has been about rediscovering my freedom. For a long time, I forgot what it felt like to simply exhale. Now, I am learning that true strength isn't just found in a gym or in pushing through the hard days. Sometimes, the strongest thing a woman can do is refuse to carry weight that no longer belongs to her.

I am trading the heavy expectations of the past for something that feels authentic to the woman God created me to be. Grounded, yet completely free.

It is a beautiful, wild feeling to finally breathe deep and know that my time belongs entirely to me now. I am no longer shrinking to fit into someone else's story. I am walking my own path and embracing the soft, peaceful, and fiercely independent woman I was always meant to be.

You don't have to wear the armor forever. There is a clearing waiting for you, too.

Reflection for today: What is one heavy expectation or past hurt that you are still carrying? What would it feel like to finally set it down and walk forward without it today?
